Taco Casserole

A super easy and super delicious taco casserole made with premade meat!

This delicious, easy taco casserole has been carried with us to potlucks, taken to folks who needed a meal and been served to company at our table.  It is simple enough that I even made it with ten 7-10 year olds in a cooking class.   Everyone loves this dish! If you make your taco meat ahead of time, you will have it put together even faster.  I have a taco seasoning recipe here if you need it.  We love taco casserole with Amazing Cornbread.

It is so nice to have that made up ahead of time to pull out when needed.  I actually pulled mine out of the freezer as I gathered the other ingredients. I thawed it in the microwave for a minute and a half and it was ready to go. Shew! That saved me from the, “Oh no, it almost dinner time? What are we having?!” scare!!  

I sure do appreciate recipes like this that can be on the table in less than an hour of deciding what to have for dinner.  You simply need any cooked green vegetable or a side salad to complete the meal.

Taco casserole reheats wonderfully and also freezes well.

This is a recipe that has been used in our family for over two decades and I have given out the recipe many, many times.  Now I am happy to share it with you! 🙂

Instructions
  1. Gather your ingredients.

  2. Boil your pasta according to directions on box.

  3. While pasta is boiling, combine taco meat and tomato sauce.

  4. When pasta is cooked, drain and add cream cheese and sour cream. Stir until cheese is melted and all is combined.

  5. Pour into greased 9 x 13 baking dish.

  6. Add half of shredded cheese.

  7. Add meat and tomato sauce mixture.

  8. Bake in preheated 350* oven, uncovered, for 25 minutes.

  9. Add the second half of cheese to casserole.

  10. Bake another 5-10 minutes more, until cheese is melted and casserole is heated through.

  11. Serve and enjoy!
