Simple Creamy Guacamole

Simple Creamy Guacamole in glass dish surrounded by tortilla chips.

Just 5 ingredients and 5 minutes to have homemade creamy, delicious guacamole!

Ahh, Guacamole! How can something so smooth and creamy and delicious be so good for you too? It is the best of everything.

Making your own guacamole is so simple; just mash up an avocado, mix in lemon juice, onion powder, garlic powder and salt, stir it up and there you go.

For each avocado you use–what this recipe calls for–you will get about 1 cup of guacamole.

This recipe has been shared in Weekend Potluck. Head on over to these great sites for LOTS of new recipes each week!

Can you make Guacamole ahead of time?

It is best to make it in the last few minutes before serving. Keeping the seed from the avocado in the guacamole does help it last longer in the refrigerator but only for a little while. The lemon juice will help a little bit too but you do want to use it as soon as possible; right away is best.

If you have any leftover:

I really try to make exactly what we will use and we don’t usually have trouble cleaning it up, even if someone needs to sacrifice and eat a spoonful or two off of the spoon to finish it up. 😊 If you do have leftovers, keep the seed in the guacamole and cover it with plastic wrap so it is totally touching the guacamole. It should last pretty well until the next day. If it gets a little bit brown on top, we will scrape that very top layer off and it is still nice and green underneath.

What to serve Guacamole with:

We love our guacamole on tacos made meat made with Homemade Taco Seasoning. It is also great with tortilla chips or as a dip for vegetables.
