Truly, eating eggs is a good thing. Finding lots of ways to eat them is a great thing!
We can eat them for breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner! They are so versatile and delicious!
The history of deviled eggs;
Since I was doing a whole post on deviled eggs, I wondered how long they have been around. Did you know that in Ancient Rome they hard boiled eggs and seasoned them in spicy sauces when entertaining?
The term “deviled” means spicy. I sure didn’t know that!
In 1896, the Fannie Farmer cookbook was the first to suggest using mayonnaise as “glue” to hold the yolk filling together but it wasn’t until the 1940’s that it really became popular.

What else are deviled eggs called?
Deviled eggs can also be called stuffed eggs, salad eggs, or dressed eggs. My neighbor calls them angel eggs but I have not heard anyone else call them that. What else have you heard them called?
