Small carpenter bees in the genus Ceratina are a fraction of that size and tunnel into already-damaged or pithy plant stems; they have no ability to chew through the wood on your house. Treating both as the same threat leads to wasted effort and, sometimes, unnecessary pesticide use.

A bee may have found accessible flowers nearby, suitable nesting material on your property, or both, but its presence alone does not prove that every resource comes from your yard.
