Low Carb BBQ Cheddar Burgers

Low Carb BBQ Cheddar Burgers: Burgers with cheese and BBQ already cooked into the meat! Simple 5 ingredients, quick to mix but packed with flavor!

Low Carb BBQ Cheddar Burgers require only 5 ingredients and a few minutes to mix up but are packed with flavor! Cook on the grill or in a skillet. They are sure to be a favorite way to make burgers!

The BBQ Sauce:

We often use G. Hughes BBQ sauce. Or you can make this easy and delicious homemade Low Carb No Sugar Added BBQ Sauce.

Can I make the burgers ahead?

Yes! They can be made up to a day ahead of time. Just keep them covered and in the refrigerator until you are ready to cook them.

How do I store leftovers?

Store in an airtight container in refrigerator for several days or freeze.

The Parmesan cheese:

I use the Parmesan in the green canister. I know some feel it is not the best choice for Keto with “cellulose powder to prevent caking” but it does a great job of holding the burgers together. Freshly grated Parmesan would not do the job as well.

And, “Cellulose is a non-digestible plant fiber, and we actually happen to need non-digestible vegetable fiber in our food—that’s why people eat bran flakes and psyllium husks,” says Jeff Potter, author of Cooking for Geeks- taken from bonappetit.com.

I personally think a little bit here and there is OK. One half cup of the cheese (with a tiny bit of the cellulose in that) spread throughout 6 burgers is fine for me.

Tips for juicy burgers:

Don’t over handle the meat. Combine the ingredients well but don’t overdo it.

Flip only once while cooking. Whether on the grill or in a skillet, one flip is all you want. It is that over handling thing again.

Don’t press the juices out of the burgers with the flipper while they are cooking. Releasing juice from the burgers obviously will make them less juicy.
